We present a DVD with film "The Grand Duke's Finances" directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, the oldest feature film ever too be made in Croatia.
In the period between two World Wars foreign film crews often made adventure films on the Adriatic. One of successful German visits resulted in film "Die Finanzen des Grossherzogs"/"The Grand Duke's Finances" in the summer of 1923. By pure chance, it is this adventure comedy by famous director Murnau that survived until present days as the oldest film ever made in Croatia! On this DVD, for the first time after the regular cinema distribution in 1925, Murnau is back in Croatia. Thanks to the excellently restored image and newly recorded piano background music "The Grand Duke Finances" brings back Dalmatia of long ago, and it is also an entertaining film to the taste of the audience of that time.
